His appointments have included Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, Musical Director of the All-Union Radio Symphony Orchestra, USSR Ministry of Culture Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
